Gyro tools allow borehole mapping inside the drill pipes, in cased holes and in open holes in magnetically disturbed ground where magnetic probes cannot be used.

For standard surveys we use modern memory tools. The robust gyro-probes are based on MEMS-sensors and enable surveying of boreholes drilled in any direction – vertical, horizontal, inclined, upward.

The tools can be run with a wireline winch, attached to drill rods, fixed inside the core barrel and pumped through the drill string or simply pushed by hand in short horizontal holes.

For high-temperature applications including surveys of geothermal wells, gyro probes protected in a heat shield are available.
